The commercial success of the famous multi-lingual film Baahubali broke many notions. It was one of the highest grossing films of the year. Interestingly the film stopped at an event where it left the possibility of having a sequel. And the visionary maker of the film went ahead and made the second installment of the same as well. You can read our unbiased movie reviews for both the installments by following the below mentioned links:
The second part was also a huge success. The viewers were kind of mesmerized by the fictional world of Mahishmati and had developed an emotional connection to the fictional movie characters. People’s urge to get more in the Baahubai series made the makers think about providing more options to the viewers. Of course, there was and is a commercial angle as well. They want to encash the Baahubali phenomenon, and well, when they are doing it by following the market norms, there is nothing wrong with it.
S. S. Rajamouli contacted famous author Anand Neelakantan and invited him to imagine the connecting stories to the fictional world of Baahubali. Anand penned down a book named Rise Of Sivagami, which is a moderately good book having its own ups and downs. It became a commercial hit. Recently, the book celebrated its first anniversary. The book is translated into many regional languages as well and is among the list of most selling fictional books in India.

The sets of Baahubali film are also made into tourist spots and are now open for visitors. If that is not all, a toy franchise is running where various toys, monuments, and sculptures based on the Baahubali theme are sold successfully.

So, the makers have tied up with ARKA MediaWorks and Graphic India Production and went to ahead to make a cartoon/animated Web series named Baahubali: The Lost Legends. So, are you ready to know more about the first episode of the second season? Here we go…
Book Plot:
The episode works as an anchor to the first seasons of Baahubali: The Lost Legends, so a quick recap of all the prime incidents is expected. The makers took a wise decision to make it actually short and consolidated. So, without wasting much time, the story can move forward from where it stopped.
The episode is titled as A Royal Welcome.
We see that Mahishmati is still trying to recover from the wounds of the attacks of the Barbarians. Though almost everyone from Mahishmati and its friends, who loved Mahishmati, fought bravely and were able to send back the invaders by defeating them, they were also able to cause some remarkable damage to Mahishmati.
The main traitor of Mahishmati, who remains in the disguise now rose a few more steps and became a confidante for the royal court. The loyal most protector of Mahishmati – Kattapa, who uncovered the true identity of this man was already unconscious under the effect of the poison. The tragedy of Mahishmati is, the key position of the protector of the kingdom is in the hand of the one who wants to destroy it! And, some people from Mahishmati, including the royal family members were busy playing their own games! The power, the wealth and lust to the same, can make people doing strange things.
While Baahubali and Sivagami were worried about Katappa’s health, they listen to some broken words from unconscious Katappa’s mouth, who was fighting bravely to the poison. He is a true patriot who is trying to warn the queen and the prince despite him being in the fatal situation.
Will his message be conveyed properly? Will Sivagami and Baahubali be able to know more about the traitor(s)? Is Bhalllaladeva playing some dirty tricks? Why is Katappa still not recovering from the effects of the poison? What is the latest challenge to come Baahubali’s way? To start getting answers to all these igniting questions, you need to watch the episode.
If you’ve read our reviews for the episodes of the first season of this series, you know that we had the same complaint in almost all episodes, that is for the quality of animation. The animations could have been much better. Agree that it has the same quality we see in cartoon serials like Doremon and Chhota Bheem, but, as it belongs to Baahubali franchisee it can be at least in Super Bhim and Motu Patlu category. The reason is, the visual splendor is one of the key aspects of Baahubali series which made it popular. And, a viewer like me expects to experience something of high quality (if not that great as the Baahubali movie) animation here.
Though, I must say that some of the animation stuff is definitely of better quality than the previous season. But, on a whole, it is below the expectations. The kingdom/palace of Jwalarajyam and Mahishmati are imagined and explored fantastically.
We also see that the characters (especially their faces, at least for some characters) are a little changed. It makes them look a little different.
The content/script is/should be the real hero for any media, be it a movie or a TV Serial. The story is really interesting and it is scripted well. Also, the makers don’t waste time and keep moving the tell at a good pace. That is a positive attribute. While some movie enthusiasts find the traces of famous English film 300 in the story explored in the first 3 episodes, I must say, similar tales are found in Indian history as well.
The dialogs are simple and short. They reflect the language of common man and are aimed to convey the message/feelings in a straightforward way.
The background music plays a vital role in creating an impact of any scene and you cannot find a single place where you can complain about the same. Also, the audio recording quality is really good.
The real heroes of the episode are the dubbing artists, who made the animated characters alive on the screen. Each of them deserves the equal credit.
By the way, it is easy to become an Amazon Prime Member, they are also giving a free trial period of 1 month without any obligation. Summary:
If you watch it without expectations then, you will definitely enjoy it more than you think.
