Quantum of solace is a short story written by Ian Fleming. However James Bond was one of the characters in the story, he is certainly not the protagonist, nor the story was a James Bond adventure.

The movie however is a complete James Bond adventure and it starts from where its predecessor Casino Royale stopped, continuing the tale.

As we know that in the previous movie, at the end Bond was able to capture Mr. White, the antagonist, he is driving from Lago di Garda to Siena, Italy, with him. He put Mr. white in the boot of the car. The drive was not pleasant of course. He was attached by many of the goons belong to Mr. White. Bond however was able to successfully deliver him to his boss, MI6 chief. When interrogating him regarding his organization – Quantum, Mitchell – the bodyguard of M opens fire. No, not only on Mr. White but M, Bond and the other mates. We gotta know that he is a double agent who is working for Mr. White. The mishap gave a chance to escape to White, and he disappears. Bond chased Mitchell and killed him however, but M was found wounded and needs attention.

Bond and M returns to London and Bond went ahead to search the flat where Mitchell used to live. He found the currency notes with the traces from Haiti. It lead bond to Edmund Slate, who happened to be contact of Mitchell and a shooter. He was the one who was sent to kill Camille Montes. Now Bond needs to keep watch on Dominic Greene. Green was found helping exiled Bolivian General, Medrano. The General was responsible for killing Montes’ family. His intention was to overthrow the government and took control of the same. However his main interest was found in the land of dessert in Bolivia, which is considered as barren! Naturally, there might be something important there, otherwise how come he take so much interest in the land which can give him nothing?!

While trying to get traces of the antagonists, MI6 tries to get information from CIA. But CIA chief of South American section, Gregg Beam was not possessing any information in the same regards. However M and Bond suspected that there is something running behind the curtains and it is later came to knowledge that Beam was working on something with Greene. The something – was a non-interference deal to maintain some Oil stocks.

Bond, after rescuing Camille, visits the performance (show), at f Tosca in Bregenz, Austria. This is where a number of pieces of the puzzle are found altogether. Bond interrupts the deal going on there, which resulted into the gun fight and Guy Haines, an adviser to the British Prime Minister is killed during the fight. This makes M to issue order to come back to Bond. He need to surrender his passport and his credit cards were revoked with the immediate effect.

So, what will happen now? We see in the movie that Bond is en route to become a ruthless agent in the field. He still has his emotions being shown by him. For example he refers M as someone like his mother. He is still interested in taking revenge from the killer of his girl friend. The plot and chases are competent of course. The action sequences are up to the mark and Daniel Craig successfully portrays the character and he is believable. The background music is an aid to the story. The story has more political angles because as Bond is more of a real man the circumstances are also tried to kept as found normal, but at the same time the care is taken that it does not be a political film, because it must not be. The other fellows who found supportive to Bond in the other movies (as this is one of the earliest stories) are being introduced in this movie (in addition to the first installment of the same – Casino Royale).

Overall its a a good thrilling experience for anyone who watch the movie. For Bond lovers, there are no two thoughts on the fact that they will surely love the movie.
