Let us take a bird’s eye view of the plot of the episode.
Book Plot:
It is the climax of this season. As we know that the Pradhan Guru has captured the nerve system of the kingdom of Mahishmati and the things are running as he has planned! Despite their best efforts, the administration of Mahishmati including queen Sivagami, princes Baahubali and Bhallaladeva, Katappa and others find it difficult to get the control of the situation.
While Baahubali anticipated that their army (which they called back for their support in the city) is coming back, their hopes prove false, as they are fooled by the barbarians in the disguise. So, rather than getting the backup support, they got a brutal attack!
But, that is not it. Pradhan Guru has planned something even brutal of the kingdom of Mahishmati. And if the plan is (as seems to be) successful, the kingdom will be (literally) wiped out from the Earth. Now the only thing the Mahishmati administration can do is, buy some time, till they get a solution.
The only way you can engage Pradhan Guru in something is by challenging his ego. So queen Sivagami took that way. On the other hand, Baahubali and Bhallaladeva were able to uncover the conspiracy and reached the place, from where they can save Mahishmati. But, how?
While both of them are trying their level best, somethings require more power and more people to support you. And, in the time when the citizens of Mahishmati are so afraid and fearful for their lives, how can you expect a support from them? Just remember though, sometimes all you need is to lit a small lamp to overpower the darkest of the darkness!
In terms of the content, the episode lives up to the expectations of the viewer. Being the last episode of the season, the episode has to bring a convincing climax, which it does. However, we must remember that the episode ends with “to be continued” note and thus, we should expect the third season of the same (and possibly many more, as it is like exploring chronicles). The third season is already released and we are keen to watch and review it episode wise for you, of course.
For the time being, let us stick to the spoiler-free (as much as possible) review of the last episode of season 2, though.
See, the characters of Baahubali, Bhallaladeva, Katappa, Sivagami and even Pradhan Guru are legendary, so you can expect them doing the larger than the life things. However, what I like the most is the spirit of common men, as it is explored in this episode. To be precise, I am talking about the bravery and urge to do his bit for his motherland, by a small young boy named Raju. The way he inspires other fellow citizens is amazing.
It is an old (but wise and important) saying “संघे शक्ति कलौ युगे” (aka, unity holds the ultimate power in dark times), the might of the leader must be supported by the will and efforts of the fellows he is leading. And, that is a worthy lesson to learn from the episode.
Another important lesson I learned from the episode is, “the anger and enmity makes one blind” and thus he/she cannot see the truth. The reasons for which Pradhan Guru decided to wipe Mahishmati out from the surface of the ear and bring an end to the royal dynasty of the same, doesn’t seem that much logical. At least, they are not as strong or intense that, one should go this much hard and brutal way of reacting to that.
The episode is written nicely. The script is the real hero, as it should be, making the episode worth watching. The dialogs complement the script pretty well. They are small yet effective. And, the background music never fails in making the impact of the scene multifold (in positive ways). We often ignore the importance of background music, which however plays a major/important role in making the entire media more effective.
The target audience of the TV Serial is envisioned as kids and young adults by the makers, at least, it seems so, from the animation quality. The content, however, is not curated for this audience and is equally appealing to all age groups. The animation quality could have been much better. See, to me (and for many viewers who admired the grand and splendid world of Baahubali), anything in Baahubali series expected to be a visually spectacular and splendid media. The animation in this episode is neither bad nor as good as you expect from something from the Baahubali series. Though, there are many scenes which remind you of the visual splendor you can expect from this series. There are instances where you find them amateurish. Especially, the way, the characters walk, looks something really doesn’t belong to Baahubali series.
The real heroes of this episode are the voice over actors who put in a life into the script. It is not as easy to dub for animated characters as it seems. As you have no visual appearance on the screen, you need to act through your voice, and almost everyone from the team did a fantastic job. Just mentioning a single one or a few of them may prove unjust to the others.
Summary:
Overall, it is definitely a nice watch. It is a nice finale to the series making you more curious to wait for the next one. There are some limitations but the positive attributes overpower them and makes it a good watch.
