Send Free SMS Local and International | Jaxtr SMS Application | News

Sabeer Bhatia, the person behind Hotmail (the original founder, interestingly HoTMaiL is written like this in the original version highlighting HTML – the language for the web) is again in the news.

His new venture jaxtrsms.com provides jaxtrsms application allowing free mobile SMS, both local and international. This application may be a boon for those who need to Text (SMS) internationally. As of now an international SMS from India costs around INR 5.00. Having this application resolves the costing issue.

The application is having Android, iPhone, Blackberry, Windows, Java, Symbian, Nokia versions available so we can say it works with almost all the mobiles and is truly international. By the way, it also works on Tablets!!!

The application is in the beta stage yet, but accordig to some of the announcements from the company, the response to the soft launch is overwhelming and encouraging. They expects around 100 million subscriber base globally by the end of the next year!!!
They are planning to introduce premium services in order to generate revenue (apart from the advertisements of course). The premium services could be text archive, multimedia etc. and JaxtrSMS is planning to make them available by mid next year, if all goes as planned.

Here is the quick link to the application download page. http://www.jaxtrsms.com/download.html

So have happy Texting 🙂
