It is a trend in the film industry to remake the film(s) which were either able to leave its mark or were a commercial success. And there is nothing new in it. We had seen such practices in past as well. Be it the Hindi Film Industry, popularly known as Bollywood, or Hollywood or even any regional film industry, the trend was and is there.
Sometimes the makers have their own vision in which they want to present the story which was told earlier in a different way. Sometimes, they simply want to retell the story by adding visual splendor to it by using the latest technology and resources available at their disposal.
The results are overwhelming and disappointing both. While makers like Mehboob Khan are able to create a movie like Mother India by retelling the story of Aurat; makers like Ram Gopal Verma presented his version of Sholay as Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag! And we are going to see Ittefaq in near future (which is a remake of the film of the same name starring Rajesh Khanna, Nanda and Bindu). It is worth to note that stories like Devdas remain favorite among a series of filmmakers and thus we see more than one remakes of the same.
Here are some of the other films which are re-made in recent past.
David Dhavan is not new to do such remakes. He tried remaking Chashme Baddoor in his own way. And now, he came up with Judwaa 2, which revisits the story of Judwaa.
Let us understand one thing that despite Judwaa was not a cinematic masterpiece at all, it has its own positives too. And, a large number of people who visits cinema hall just for pure entertainment purpose have enjoyed it at extent. Of course, there is a segment of the audience who like such films, and importantly, that is the segment which makes the movie a commercial hit too.
Judwaa 2 definitely falls in the same category, if you want to just enjoy what you see on the celluloid, you may enjoy it without a doubt.

Let us take a bird’s eye view to the plot of the movie and then we will talk about its various aspects.
This Is Here In For You
Book Plot:
Mr. Malhotra, a businessman from India is returning to his hometown from a business trip as he was summoned by his wife. Actually, Mrs. Malhotra is expecting and the due time has arrived. She was being taken to the hospital and she needed her husband to be there. On the flight, Mr. Malhotra meets with Charles, unknown to Malhotra at that time, Charles was a smuggler!
In the hospital, the Malhotras got blessed with twin sons, so they were on the seventh sky, enjoying each moment of joy and happiness. Add to that, an interesting attribute that their sons share is a platonic link between there. They were joined at the time of birth and were separated by a surgery. Both the kids match with the reflexes of each other when within a certain geographic limit.
But, when Charles comes to meet Mr. Malhotra, the consequences took a fateful turn and the life of the Malhotras turned upside down.
Eventually, both the kids are separated! Prem, the weaker kid was taken to London by his parents where he grows up as a musician. A fisherwoman found the missing kid on the railway track and named him Raja.
The time takes its own course and situation lead Raja accompanied by Nandu to go to London in a hideout from a local goon.
How the story unfolds from here is better to explore on the screen.
As said earlier, the main aim of the movie is to entertain the viewer. So don’t try to find much logic behind each scene and you enjoy it while watching. Some major changes are done in the story of Judwaa to make it more appealing to the current generation.
One major change is, in Judwaa, Prem comes from abroad to India, in Judwaa 2, Raja goes to London from India. This way, the makers are able to show visual treats of foreign location and some skin show is allowed. The Raja’s sister track is completely removed from the movie. No doubt that Pavan Malhotra is a fantastic actor, but you will miss Anupam Kher – Satish Shah track (from Judwaa). In climax fight though, instead of Nandu getting beaten up by Raja, is replaced with something more interesting.
Varun Dhavan is a fantastic actor and it is obvious that a lot is expected from him. He tries honestly to drag the movie on his shoulders. I honestly raise a question though, was it necessary to make him present in almost all the major scenes? If you don’t allow other characters to go flawlessly, the overall impact of the movie will surely get affected.
Also, Varun is a good actor and good dancer, but it is tough to distinguish between both the brothers in the movie at many places. There should be a distinct difference. Also in the tapori role, he is clearly seen making efforts, rather than looking natural. Some of the things come with the actor’s persona, and there are still many things which come to Salman naturally, for which others need to put an effort for.
But, overall, Varun tries to replace the combo of Salman and Govinda quite honestly.
Taapsi is a fantastic actress. People still want to see her in roles like the title role in Naam Shabana. She is trying effectively to look a bubbly girl effectively. She looks quite thin though. Jacqueline remains Jacqueline in any movie or any role. And here also she remains the same.
Anupam Kher and Pavan Malhotra both got a little less important and not that nicely written roles, but they are really good. Zakir Hussain and Manoj Joshi are wasted. Vivan Bhatena has an effective personality and good acting skills. He can prove to be a horse of the long race. Rest of them are doing their work honestly.
The music album is just okay. The songs from the original movie have their own impact. But none of the new songs are that effective. Even the Ganpati Bappa song could have been better. So in terms of the album, Judwaa 2 is not as good as Judwaa. The background music is effective.
The fights and dances are choreographed well. The locales are beautiful and the wardrobe has the western flavor clearly visible. However, it misses realistic flavor at places. For example, the clothing wore by the fisherwomen should not be iron-clad, perfect ones!
The script should always be the real hero of any film, and if more care could have been taken in that arena, the movie would have been much better.
Summary:
A movie which is not as good as the original one apart from a few sequence, but you can enjoy it definitely if you have visited the cinema hall with the aim to get entertained only.
