Malgudi Days – The Hindi TV Serial On DVD – Views And Reviews For Episode – A Horse & Two Goats (Muni)

An elderly couple (Muni and his wife) was living in poor condition in the very small village. Muni’s wife was searching desperately for some work as a maid in any home there (which she usually fail getting). Muni’s main routine was to take his two goats out so they can eat some grass daily. We see the place he took his goats daily is an old homage kind of place where there is a statue of a horse was there.

That day also he had to sleep without eating a mouthful as he didn’t have any money. He asked his wife to have something else than the grass he is eating daily. His wife tells him to bring something from the shop to eat. He was sent back from the shop as he had old debt to pay yet. His wife was also not going to find any work that day because of a dead body found near the well in the village and she was fearful to go there. As there will be police investigation and she was very feared from the police.

Muni went with his goats to his regular place. After some time he see an American in Khaki dress stopped there, as his jeep was broke down. As the American was in Khaki, Muni thought that he was a police officer.

The American tourist from New York was on vacation with his wife who was stationed at Kashmir at the time and he was wandering through the places to see the country properly and understand the society and civilization in India. The trouble was he talks (and understand) English only and on the contrary Muni understands and talk Hindi only. Still their conversation goes on without either of them understanding what the other one is saying.

The tourist offers a cigarette to Muni and then joyed by seeing the statues of the horse and a brave fellow ahead of him, the tourist got interested in purchasing the same. Muni was explaining his innocence in the case of the dead body found in the village. The stuff moves on.

What will happen at the end? Is the tourist fellow really a tourist or any police officer? Will he actually buy anything from Muni or pay him? Well all these questions are better get answered by watching the simple episode.
