This Is Here In For You
Book Plot:
Rasmoy Sarkar is a wealthy and aged goldsmith. His business turnover is counted in lakhs (it was really a huge amount those days. A businessman from Delhi, named Ramdas Chowksi placed an order of a diamond chain. Estimated cost of the chain was around 60000 Rs. (It is again a huge amount, especially in those days).
Mr. Sarkar thought to go Delhi personally to handover the necklace to Mr. Chowksi. He was however suffering from rheumatism. And, as since last few days, the pain was severe, he have no option left but change the plan. He decided to send his son Manimoy Sarkar to go Delhi to deliver the chain!
It was decided that Uma, Manimoy’s wife will seal the chain and give it to Mr. Sarkar to keep and next day Manimoy will pick it from him and will left for Delhi. Actually, Mr. Sarkar’s wife went on pilgrimage and the keys of the safe were with her! So, they need to arrange the stuff this way.
Early in the morning, when Manimoy went on to collect the chain from his father, they found that the neclace was stolen!
It was definitely a bad news and they have informed police immediately. Mr. Sarkar then approached Byomkesh Bakshi to help him solve the case of theft.
What happens afterwards is better to explore while watching the episode.
Views And Reviews:
It is one of those few episode of Byomkesh Bakshi, Hindi TV Serial, which are not murder mystries. So, the primary requirement here is, the content should be written in gripping manner. And it is. Whle it doesn’t provide the thrills we found in murder mysteries, it is quite good in terms of writing though. Both Late Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay and the script writer (to convert is as appealing story in Hindi) deserves the credit.
Scenes are written nicely and they are kept of comparatively smaller length. Some people, after watching the episode, found complaining that why Bholanath have to confess that it was him who went out in the night? But, that is his persona. He was a little dumb and uneducated, so you cannot expect him act smartly.
The locales are sets are explored pretty nicely. And background music adds to the positive impact of the episode. The cameraman knows his job and he does it effectively.
Basu Chatterji is in full control both as writer and director. And if you like the episode (of course, you will 🙂 ) he deserves the credit. He proved again, that if you have good content and talent are there at your disposal, you can create magnum opus without spending millions.
There is one scene where a calendar is shown, someone with a good observation skill will notice that it belong to the 90s! Now the TV Serial was broadcasted in 90s but the incidents are setup in the time dacades ago. So, the makers could have taken better care for such smaller things.
Of course the episode belongs to Rajit Kapoor and K K Raina. Both of them are competent actor and it is tough to find better of them. However, in second seaon, in most of the episode, Ajit’s character got less footage and thus Rajit Kapoor playing Byomkesh got more screen time. Yes, Rajit did a brilliant job and so does K K Raina. If Rajit’s expressions and gestures as the lead are worth to take a note of, it is K K Raina who gives him good reflections.
We often complain about the acting of this lead pair is not supported by others. However in this episode R. S. Chopra (playing Mr. Rasmoy Sarkar) does a fantastic job. He looks so convincing that you will not think for a moment that he is acting. Even Bunty Bahl tries hard (as Manimoy).
So, we can say that the episode is studded with some good performances which are worth to explore.
Summary:
Overall a nicely executed episode which is worth watching to see some brilliant acts. It is not a murder mystery so expect a little less thrills.
Trivia:
This story inspired by a Sherlock Holmes adventure The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet
