The episode revolves around the time of World War. The demonstration of a fighter plane and its capabilities in the beginning of the episode is quite gripping and one of the highest point of the episode. Based on the budget of the TV serial and resources available those days, it is one of the finest execution we must say. The story brings in the feelings of patriotism as well. David is really expressive as Hercule in this episode (he never let the viewer down in any episode we must say). For example see the scene where he meets the lady at the zoo. He is expressive enough even without dialogs. A master actor! Hugh have comparatively smaller role to play in this episode, he is convincing though.

The introductory scene where Hercule was polishing his shoes and doing a conversation with Hastings is full with power-pack performance. This few minutes scene is capable enough to show you the unique characteristics of both the characters. And to add to its positives, there enters Miss Lemon.

The dialogs at the Zoo scene are interestingly written. They show the feelings of a concerned woman for her family member and entire nation as a patriot citizen are explored effectively.

The events taking place at Mayfield’s place may not interest you in the beginning but as it progress it starts being interesting. Also see that how Hastings have to sit outside the home as he was not invited to party but doing the surveillance for Poirot. The conversation here is interesting enough. The reactions of Poirot on knowing about the presence of Inspector Japp in the town are a delight to watch. Also notice that his mind is working in right direction at that time. The things got more interesting when we found that the plans for the bomber plane are stolen from the study!

Also the dialogs like “Why politicians treat others as stupid”, are small, effective and powerful. It clearly shows disappointment of someone treated in unfair manner by government.

Eventually Poirot have to take matters in his hand and the mind games starts playing. He started evaluating things with his powerful analytical skills. You will like the scenes where Poirot, Japp and Hastings do their efforts to get to the truth. The conversation between Poirot and Hastings at the dining table is small yet important to watch.

The car chase at the end of the episode is really thrilling. The background music with signature tunes of the TV Series, is really charming.

This episode have outdoor locations to look at as well. It is a delight to watch this episode progressing. It is said that with the creation, the creator tries explore him/herself. The feelings of patriotism, concerns about the family and country during the wartime etc. are explored by the author in nice manner on the paper. The makers tried to show it on the celluloid with honest and genuine efforts.

The end of the episode is even better. It is like a master-punch.

The remastered DVDs comes up with good sound and picture qualities, and you can expect the same quality at Amazon Prime as well. So seeing all the positive aspects, if murder mysteries and thrillers are your choice, than you may not like to miss this one.
