Sujata Morab is a young and aspiring writer from India. She lives in Boisar, near Mumbai. She did her graduation in science. She then pursued her MBA and went on for a course in Creative writing! So, we can say she dived in Science, Commerce, and Arts; all 3 major streams. Recently we got a chance to read her debut novel, Dancing Stars. After reading the book we can surely say that whatever she has studied is not just to pursue a degree, but she actually preserved it inside her. She is an active blogger too.

We were curious to have a conversation with her to know more about her and her book. We got a chance to have a small communication session with her. And, here it is.
Sujata Morab – Author of the book – Dancing Stars
I am from a Kannadiga Brahmin family. My father migrated from Karnataka to Mumbai in the 1970s. He was a government employee and served MTNL for around 35 years. I am eldest of my parents’ 3 children. Father was busy with work so Mother took care of us. My sister and brother live in Mumbai.
After marriage, I shifted to Boisar, a developing town around 90 kms north of Mumbai. In a way, it is my karmabhumi. I am working in a real estate firm in Boisar.
I am a mother to my 11 year old daughter.
I am a workaholic. I can’t sit still. Anything that churns my creative juices interests me. Songs, films, books, talks are the source of my entertainment. I like traveling to watch a variety of places and people.
I give a work 100% or don’t do it at all. If something does not interest, i don’t pay attention, this is a bad habit of mine. ☹
I used to read a lot when I was young. From the reading, I realized that we can learn a lot from the arrangement of words. Words give you knowledge, makes you feel and force you to think. I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives from my words.
One day I was traveling, suddenly the picture of the gem machine flashed in my mind. I felt I have to put it into paper. The whole story and characters are developed around the machine.
Yes. Time. It took me 10 years to finish it! ☺
It was a long journey. I started looking for a publisher in February 2016 and found one that I could decide to go ahead with, in July 2017!
The designers of the publisher were kind enough to design it for me. It matched with what I wanted. It looked perfect.
Those who like intellectual stimulation with entertainment should read it. There are certain concepts in the book which have to be contemplated before understanding. I am sure this book will be very difficult to forget by readers.
It is really very simple. We have come from nature, we live with nature; finally, we merge with nature. So, when facing difficulties, just take cues from nature. She will readily tell you, just listen to it.
To preserve nature it is very important not to disturb her balance. Natural calamities are a result of disturbances which are mostly human inflicted. Beware, nature will watch and wait and when it will get too much to bear for her, she will retaliate!
It was visualizing as well as writing the final chapter, I liked the most.
I write whenever I get time. No method in the timetable for my writing.
Fiction which stimulates my intelligence.
My personal favourite is Ayn Rand. I also like authors of action books like Robert Ludlum, Jeffery Archer, Sydney Sheldon. I also like Jane Austen’s books.
Currently, I am reading “The secret knowledge of Vedas” by Stephan Knapp.
Listening to music.
I like songs that have meaningful lyrics, be it English or Hindi or even Marathi.
I like Micheal Jackson’s Man in the Mirror, Guns N Roses’ Estranged, Bon Jovi’s Blaze of Glory and many more.
I like Jagjit Singh voice with Nida Fazli’s Gazals, all evergreen Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Mukesh, Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar songs
I like the old marathi song, Phite Andharache Jaale
It has become a part of our lives. Ten-fifteen years back we had not imagined we could read and see what is going on in other parts of the world on our fingertips. The world has become a small place and our friends, family, relatives even if not physically near, are close to us. Even in the workplace, we have learnt to use social media for professional purposes.
It is very good for those who have no access to paperbacks. Some classics which are wanted to be read and could not be found are found online. The new generation is lucky to have all the books they want to read so readily available.
Not only after, the book was changing me even during the writing process. When I was researching, I was not finding knowledge, knowledge was finding me. It felt as if it was asking me to discover it. It is said that when a student is ready, a teacher appears. Well, the book was my teacher. And I hope it will give something to the readers which they can never forget.
No substantial plans for next venture as such but mostly a fiction book about science with nature.
In this age of nuclear families, if moral and ethical stories don’t come from grandparents, they come from other sources but the problem is they come late, sometimes too late.
