The Plot:

Now a little more old Byomkesh decided to pay a visit to a hill-station in Maharashtra to get some off time. Here he meets Sohrab Homji, the owner of a small hotel through his friend. Homji is very friendly in nature and he and Byomkesh have some good time.

Due to the season of winter, the hotel was almost empty and Byomkesh is the only customer! Upon enquiring, Byomkesh got to know that the tourist season is going to start in a couple of months and thus Homji came to get the things ready by the time visitors start flowing. In addition, the hotel is a good property at a remote place so looking after it is also necessary.

The hotel is on a hill which is on the outskirts of a Jungle. The presence of several wild animals including a tiger is also confirmed.

Actually, Sohrab used to come to visit this hotel on regular basis as a tourist. So when he got to know before a few months that the owners are interested in selling this hotel, he grabs the opportunity and bought it!

Finding this fact interesting Byomkesh asked curiously about the previous owner(s) and it revealed many things which Byomkesh found interesting. However, he decided to take some rest and asked for an alarm clock to Homji.

The alarm clock woke Byomkesh up at a very odd time in the night! Then there was a chain of such odd incidents started which ultimately uncovers a mystery associated with a murder and a loot!

Views And Reviews:

In terms of story, it is interesting. The script writer tried to dramatize the stuff in a convincing manner. The dialogs are simple yet effective. Actually, they deliver some good philosophical lines and life-lessons effectively.

When you have good content at your disposal and you are blessed with bankable acting talents like Rajit Kapoor, K. K. Raina and others, you can deliver a masterpiece even on a tight budget! This episode explores some outdoor locations too. However, the most likable part of the episode still remains the acting of the actors playing lead roles.

Like Tommy and Tuppence by Agatha Christie, Byomkesh and Ajit are also gradually growing older with time and now the white hairs are visible on them. At the same time, you can see that their body language is also changed. And their relations with each other (and Satyavati too) are more mature now. While the actor took care to look convincing as aged fellows, we must say that the director – who is the captain of the ship – left his mark on the episode effectively too.

The way the tale explored is quite good. Everyone mentioned about tried their best to do justice to their work honestly.

Coca-Cola is a seasoned actor, and he is good in the role of a Parsi hotel owner. Though, you always feel that he could have done better when he is on the screen. If you notice, there is a discontinuity in terms of dialog delivery accent from @4:07 to @4:44 minutes in the episode. Of course, he then regains it, but such smaller things often don’t get unnoticed with curious viewers.

The actors playing other minor role delivers mixed performances.

The wardrobe is convincing and when nowadays the visual splendor is taking over the substance in TV Serials, it is rare that we see real middle-class people and places on the screen. Watching this episode gives us an opportunity to see the realistic portrayal of real people in real circumstances. Be it the wardrobe or locations like home, hotel or others, everything is realistic.

In addition, we must say that the cameraman did his job very honestly. In addition to portraying the beauty of a hill station and environment of a jungle, he chooses wise angles even for sets and indoor locations, and his efforts are visible on the screen.

Summary:

Overall, a nice episode which is having its own highs and lows. The simple yet effective presentation of the interesting tale makes it the definitely watchable episode.
