Impressed by the concept and execution of episode 1 of season 1 of Ninth Doctor incarnation of Doctor Who TV Series, we were curious to watch the second episode of the same.

Second episode comes with an even more interesting concept. The episode title End Of the World suggests what to expect from the episode right?
One however may be curious that if there is going to be the end of the world then how can one visit it? And as there are more episodes to come, how can the protagonist and the other team members can survive?
There comes the beauty of the plot, actually now associated close to Rose, the Doctor acknowledges her as his companion. The doctor decided to take Rose to visit something super interesting. It is kind of once in a lifetime event which can be witnessed by the rarest of rare person.
As we know that the Doctor can do time travel using his “public phone box”. He took Rose to the venue and time where a special arrangement is made for some special invitees from all around the universe (and possibly from many different times). The venue have special facilities to have a fantastic view of the Sun exploding (possibly a Supernova) to become nothing. The special venue is prepared at a safe distance and have the heat and energy filters to keep all the guest safe.
And we meet all kind of invitees on board. Some of the shady characters also get into in disguise. It is quite interesting to view the last human being in the way she is portrayed.
The episode conveys an important message, to the mankind. And it is the highlight of the episode. We consider it more important than everything else explored in the episode, without a doubt.
The episode have the potential to become a master-piece. Especially when you look at the content of the same. The story however required better treatment. Personally we have had more expectations after watching the first episode, and we have expected something better.
It in no way, make the episode bad though. Nowadays we are exposed to much much better SFX and VFX and thus we found some of the stuff in the episode require a lot of improvement in that area. Some effect look childish, so does some wardrobe elements.
If we can give full marks in terms of script and acting of major cast, there is a room for improvement in execution, wardrobe and other areas. The background music goes fine. While Christopher Eccleston is first rate in the episode, Billie Piper requires improvement. While Christopher is natural in majority of scenes (however sometimes looking doing more efforts), Billie looks as she is acting at many places. The main set is prepared effectively.
This is the first episode which started “cold open” style of beginning the episode in the series.
Actress Zoë Wanamaker gave voice to Cassandra (the CGI effects character).
A good episode with nice content and overall good acting, have the potential to become a masterpiece, which it is not.
You can definitely watch it as a SciFi stuff which ignites the curiosity and irks some brainstorming. Also these days it is tough to find good English (or for that matter Hindi too) TV serial which is good at content and have decent execution; targeted for family audience. Doctor Who proves a good choice in this area.
