This Is Here In For You

Book Plot:

Ranojay Sanyal is a superstar of the film industry. He is casanova by nature. He is married to Rohini (whom he used to call Rini) and they are blessed with two kids. It is, however, a well-kept secret! For the outer world, he is a bachelor. He used his popularity, charisma and position to enjoy having relationships with fellow actresses.

He ignores his wife not only at public places but even at their home also. Rohini cares for him and family despite having a rocky relationship with Ranojay. Ranjay’s mother prefers Rohini over her son.

Atanu is Rano’s personal assistant.

On a fateful day, Rano forgets his inhaler at home. Rohini decided to pay him a visit on his film-set and handover the inhaler, of course, without revealing their relationship to anyone else.

She visits a murder that happened on the set!

When Rano was kissing the heroin and transferring a capsule from his mouth to her, as per the scene, the heroin got fainted and declared dead. Of course, Rano is the only suspect and the case is almost clear.

But, Rohini decides to help Rano and solve the mystery. She thus took the role of a detective – Mrs. Jasoos.

Who is the culprit(s) and how actually the murder has happened is better to explore on screen.

Views And Reviews

If you are a detective fiction lover, then this series is definitely a very good choice for you. The only downside I would point out is the use of expletives and a couple of scenes where adultery is initiated. Of course, the mature audience will not find any harm in that and these days, it almost became a “normal standard” to have such stuff in web series. The absence of any censorship guidelines is the main reason for the same.

I must say that the creators didn’t take any unnecessary liberty to weave intimate scenes in the name of the demand of the story. However, I feel that without the few instances I referred, the series could have been a complete family entertainer.

There are no brutalities or other vulgarities in any of the episodes.

By the way, the first episode of this series is available to watch for Free(!) on Youtube, officially.

When you refer to a detective fiction, the names of Sherlock and Byomkesh Bakshi pops out in your mind, right? Well, the characters of this series also refer to them! A good thing about Bengali culture is, you will find a reference of literature in most of the cases. Here also, even the small kid refers to Agatha Christie and Miss Marple (and even corrects a police officer when the reference was wrong!). You will love watching such references if you are an avid reader.

The characters are well developed. The story revolves mainly around Rohini and Atanu. So, they got the maximum footage. Their characters are well developed. Rano’s character is also paid attention towards, but it becomes passive in many scenes (as per the story), so some viewers may not find those scenes much attractive. Inspector Kundu’s character is interesting. It coverts from a typical orthodox police officer to an open-minded one.

The series indirectly (and in many scenes, directly) emphasizes the importance of family. Also, in climax, there comes a dialog where it is referred that two female characters were found in almost similar circumstances, but the path they chose distinguished their fates poles apart.

The emotional bond between the daughter-in-law and her mother-in-law is explored pretty well. Such bonds do exist in real life also. The naughtiness, fearlessness and innocence of the kids will link to your emotional side. Yes, there are scenes with comic-reliefs. That makes the series enjoyable.

The background score requires a special mention. It multifolds the impact of respective scenes. The cut-throat competition and the dirty behind-the-scenes stuff about the glamour industry is explored pretty much effectively. It is not easy to explore these realities, especially when you are part of the same industry.

The script is tight and the dialogs are simple and effective. You can see the linguistics change as per the scene and characters, making them look real. The locales are used effectively and even indoor locations are chosen wisely.

In terms of performances, Aparajita, Rohit and Rishav got the maximum footage. But, I must say, each one of them and all the supporting actors did a really remarkable job. Their performances give you one more reason to watch Mrs. Jasoos.

The series also shatters the wrong concepts of feminism. The female protagonist proves to be the strongest, most intelligent, humble, fearless and determined character without need to do any skin-show, use abusive language or throwing any tantrums. Yes, you can be modern, advance-thinking and yet following traditions, looking after others and caring for them. It needs to be understood by everyone, regardless of his/her gender.

Telling more about the scenes I like and attributes I enjoyed exploring, will lead to spoilers, so let me avoid them.

Summary:

An interesting, no-nonsense, simple and effective detective fiction. If you like this genre, you shouldn’t miss it. I enjoyed watching it.
