Haji and Narayan share a great bond between them. None of them ever thought that they both belong to different religion. Narayan was like a brother to Haji’s wife also. Narayan was the one who made their union possible and was a big force behind Haji’s marriage. Currently he is living in Mumbai (then Bombay). He is running a travel agency there and book tourists for Kashmir. As the season is to start, he was able make full bookings for the entire season and hence was happy. He got a son who is looking after a factory in Mumbai. During the season period, he was not able to visit Kashmir however it is planned that his wife will pay a visit.
Narayan was the one with whom Khalik can open his heart without thinking. When Narayan got to know that Haji was having some bad economic condition due to lack in the previous season and hence he was unable to pay the loan instalment for the Houseboat to the bank; he insist Haji to come to his office next day, get money from him and pay the instalment. Of course, when you have a true friend, you should not have to think twice when you are in need. You know the famous saying “A Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed“.
Haji also informs him that now the time is changed. There were the days where money was important but not everything. For a child the respect of parent came before everything. And now there is too much importance given to the money that children started talking against parent as well. Haji was (is) quite right; the importance of material happiness grown day by day and it made relations a kind of formality only. Well, not everyone is doing the wrong things of course, but its overall more and more people gives importance to material wealth rather than the relations.
It is the problem which the elder generation face not only in the canvas of the TV serial but we can see the same in our surroundings. Well, call it a generation gap or changing times, but it is there.
Khalik was worrying about the plans of Gulam Ahmed, who wants to have a home somewhere on the land rather than living on floating home (houseboat). Narayan recalls his memory and found he got to hear the similar in past from his own son. Narayan try calm down Khalik. He ask him to not to force his sons for anything, as he himself was unable to stop his son to leave the heavenly-Vally of Kashmir. Khalik was even more worried about his youngest son Kadir. Despite of not being able to manage a single houseboat, he was interested in managing some contracts (especially deal in apples – it is a huge business and require a lot of management skills).
The friends then separated with the promise to meet the next day to Narayan’s office.
Will the worries of Khalik are true or he is being too protective for his children? Are Kadir and Gulam going wrong way or it is simply a different but a nice path which lead them to the success they await for? What happens then after is better to watch.
If to talk about the acting, Parikshit Sahni is best one in this episode. The person playing Narayana tries well, but he is not that convincing. The actor plays Narayan’s son, has a lot to learn yet. Pankaj Berry is natural and so do Radha Seth. Overall mix appearances. Nice research work and simplicity are the other plus points. The visuals and background music is what it should be. Overall a nice attempt, not to be missed.
