In our desperation to praise some quality English / Hollywood movies (rightly), we often failed to take note of some Hindi movies which try to spread similar message. So, when it comes to kids movies (or even TV Serials), we have only a few options we talk about. No doubt that the English films are usually of better technical quality, but there are more aspects of the movies (or any other media for that matter) than that.

Released in 2008 Jumbo is an animation film which is targeted to kids. Though the movie have the message for everyone.
Book Plot:
The movie explores the tale of a baby elephant named Jumbo. His father is missing since very long. Often Jumbo was make fun of by other animal kids in the Jungle by mentioning that his father was a coward who ran away. Jumbo thus got friends with some frogs and other animals who rather plays with him happily.
One day in desperation Jumbo asks her mother about his father and got to know that before many years his father was taken from the jungle by the king’s men. Jumbo’s father supposed to have took part in the war from the king’s side. He is missing since than. Jumbo’s mother confirms that his father was indeed a brave fellow and could not have ran away.
While his mother was sleeping Jumbo runs away in search of his father. His journey leads him through many incidents of the life. His mother also, upon waking up runs to find Jumbo. However they have a long separation period waiting for them.
It all ends well at the end of course. We cannot tell about Jumbo’s journey and the end which can otherwise spoil the fun when you watch it.
Being the animated movie, the animation is the major aspect of the movie looked upon by viewers and critics both. The animation and visual effects are not at the best, but at the same time they are good. If you are going to compare them with Avatar, Jungle Book movie, or other multimillion dollar projects, you will find it of low quality of course. But the quality is better than what we had seen in Tom and Jerry cartoon series and Jungle Book TV Series. It falls in the middle range.
For such movies, content is the most important stuff. The movie spreads the message of bravery, honesty and triumph of truth. In that arena it is similar to what we had seen in Jungle Book. The execution could have been better but it is good for sure.
Dubbing artists know their job pretty well and they have made the characters alive though their voice. The background music is of good quality. The movie have some quality songs, especially “Badhte Chalo” sung by Sukhwinder Singh is fantastic.
Summary:
The movie is definitely worth watching. Of course it is not having best animation or special effects, but the simplicity in execution and good content makes it worth watching. The movie didn’t perform well at the box office, but box office should never be considered as the parameter of movie quality. You will definitely enjoy watching it.
