Amazon Prime Video keeps adding new movies to its library on the regular bases. Recently I found one more movie added to the same, which I was curious to watch since a while. I am talking about BlackMail, a 2018 movie starring Irrfan Khan, Kirti Kulhari, Arunoday Singh, Divya Datta and others.
The interesting trailer of the movie has already raised a curiosity about the same and some acclaimed actors are associated with it, it is obvious to make people to go watch the same. The rising price of the ticket at cinema theater followed by the charages one need to pay for snacks and colddrinks make people to watch less movies, and thus such movies are often seen on the digital media at large extent.

Let us take a bird’s eye view to the plot of the movie.
This Is Here In For You
Book Plot:
Dev Kaushal is a sales executive in a toilet-paper making company. His Boss DK is a character in himself. DK is proud of his studies in Harvard and thinks that his brain is a mine of ideas. Dev fortunately has good rapport with him.
Dev has a strange habit of self pleasure. And, we come to know that he is recently married but he and his wife have no relations apart from living under the same roof. One day, Anand Tripathi, Dev’s colleague and friend proposed him a plan to spice up his personal life. Inspired by his suggestion, Dev picks up a bouquet of flower and reaches home early to surprise her.
Unfortunately, there is a surprise waiting for him!
His wife Reena was in bed with Ranjit “Tommy” Arora! We later came to know that Tommy and Reena were in love since long. But he ditched her and was missing for 6 months, and when he came back, he was married to Dolly! Anyway, furious Dev decided to kill Tommy and even executed his plans for the same, all in his mind. He rather than revealing himself, just goes out and come late at home, as usual.
He decided to Blackmail Tommy to complete his financial obligations. Tommy somehow arranges money from his father-in-law who is a cunning and influential figure in the city. Tommy is actually hen packed husband of Dolly. Though, Tommy is able to deliver money to Dev, a situation arises. Tommy’s father-in-law demanded his money back in 3 days and there is no way left for Tommy then blackmailing someone else!
And he blackmails Reena!!!
Will Reena be able to pay him? How? And what course these events took from this point forward is better to explore in a roller coaster ride offered by the movie.
Do you love thrillers? Then, this is supposedly one of the good movies to go for.
For any movie (or for that matter, for any media) the content is the king. This is specifically true for any thrillers. You can call the movie a suspense thriller in a way, as despite you know, who is blackmailing whom, you still remain curious about the course the incidents going to take from the point forward.
Personally I don’t like the scenes exploring the sexual frustration of the protagonist and how he is going to satisfy it. Though, they are not filmed in a derogatory manner, they could have been avoided. It doesn’t add anything to the movie as a thriller, and removing those scenes doesn’t make any difference at all. Many of things in this movie, makes it an adult-only movie. No matter what is available to access for free on TV or Internet, some stuff require maturity to explore.
The twists and turns keeps coming at regular intervals making the viewers interest alive, almost throughout the movie. And, the dark comedy infused in the story makes it an interesting movie watching experience.
There is much talked about Irrfan Khan and his acting talents, this is yet another nice film he has delivered. Divya Dutta is another actress who has the fantastic acting talent and she does her bits fine in this movie. Arunoday Singh and Kirti Kulhari comes as a bonus package in this film. Both of them are nice actors and they got comparatively meaty roles here. This movie makes us feel that why such talents don’t get the role they deserve? Both of them has the persona and talent, and they slips into their roles quite naturally.
Gajraj Rao is really impressive as Chawla. The way he plays the role of Chawla, you will feel that the role is tailer made for him. Same you can say for Anuja Sathe, who plays Prabha. To see her acting talents, just watch the scene where she was confronted by Dev on the stairs, and how her persona is changed all of a sudden. Recently, we had seen her playing a comparatively bigger role in Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran. Pradhuman Singh is definitely a talent we look forward to. He slips into his character quite well. If given a chance, he can do some really memorable roles. Omi Vaidya is typecasted in such roles, and he does his job. Actually his character is most negligible yet worth watching, as it is a satirical take on many contemporary things.
Even the artist who are not named here and performed smaller roles, sometimes even one or two scenes only, does justice to their work. Though, the cinema is a director’s medium, the actors makes the most long lasting impression because it is a visual medium. And, we can give this movie distinction marks in terms of acting.
There is no scope of tradition Bollywood songs in this movie. This movie, however contains some of the nice songs which plays in the background. Rather then the music, their lyrics are worth paying attention for. The background music is quite good. Cinematography is good. The movie could have been edited a little better.
The climax of the movie follows the theme “good has to overcome the evil”. And, thus all the characters having negative shades has to face the consequences. In those terms, the movie remains quite idealistic as well. And, the writer and director both deserves the credit for making such a thrilling package.
Summary:
Well, if you love to watch thrillers then this movie packed with powerful performances will lead you to a roller coaster ride embedded with dark humour. Apart from some scenes, you will enjoy almost the entire movie.
