The TV channel got very popular when it was aired for the first season itself.
The similar content was tried exploring by Hindi Film Rann by Ram Gopal Verma before few years. Of course the canvas of the TV serial is very detailed and widespread.
To add to the authenticity of the content of the TV Series, Aaron Sorkin, the writer (of the TV Series) have attended MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann as an off-camera guest. Reportedly he have paid time watching various other famous Channels and its programme, including but not limited of CNN, Fox News Channel, etc.
It is also worth to note that till the serial was got the name “The Newsroom”, it was “More as This Story Develops”. There is a Canadian TV series with the same name was popular as well.

The second season revolves around a story which the channel was forced to cook. The only thing we can reveal (to keep your interest and amusement intact) is, it is about US Marine Corps, Afghanistan and sarin gas. If you remember, there was a similar scandal about TIME and CNN came out in 1998 (which was related to the Vietnam war).

We hadn’t seen the third season yet, so we cannot comment more about the same.
Overall, it is intersting to explore the behind-the-scenes stuff being happened in the TV channels; and this serial gives us a chance for the same. Nowadays there are a few News Channels are famous in almost every country and people are a lot aware about them then the early days.
There are always two sides of the coin, and there happens to be honest news and the thing otherwise. But, we think it would be an intersting experience for us to explore this arena through this TV series.
